What did Kanye West have done to his teeth?

While Kanye West has worldwide success with his music, it’s not the only thing people are talking about.

Known for taking fashion risks, and being (very) controversial on social media are just some of the things ‘Ye’ makes the press for. But what about Kanye West’s teeth?

While his natural smile is pretty good, he’s no stranger to experimenting with his looks. Let’s delve into what treatments the rapper has undergone.

Pre-Yeezy Ye

While he experimented with fashion, his music styles and political interests, his teeth seemed to be left alone.

And no wonder.

They were pretty straight and healthy-looking, with no signs of discoloration, misalignment or decay.

Unlike many celebs, there are no reports of Kanye West undergoing veneer or crown treatment - a cosmetic dental procedure that covers the front or full surface of the teeth, improving both look and function - so we can only assume his teeth are his own.

If the Yeezy owner were to have veneers, he would have been looking at spending anything between $500-$3000 per tooth. While it probably isn’t a concern to him, fans trying to recreate that look are likely to struggle, living with a smile they’re not happy with.

A diamond smile

While his smile is award-worthy, it hasn’t stopped him from adding a few extra bits to his teeth to keep his name in the press and his fans waiting for his next move.

In 2010, he added diamond and gold implants to his bottom teeth for an extra glisten on stage. When he appeared on The Ellen Show, the star confirmed that he had gold tooth implants fitted, but for this to happen, there has to be a connection to the natural teeth.

Here, we can assume he’s had gold crowns fitted, or some teeth surgically removed, replaced with titanium implants and had a gold bridge fitted over the top.

The Spy Who Loved Ye

In January 2024, the rapper revealed his new ‘Bond villain teeth’ - inspired by Jaws who appeared in the 1977 James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me - consisting of $850,000 worth of titanium.

If they’re a permanent fixture, he’s going to struggle eating and speaking. But, knowing Kanye, he’s probably had them done as a talking point for social media, rather than improved function.

Because of this, we can assume it’s a covering for his natural teeth (similar to grills), he can wear for a picture or event and remove when he needs to tuck into a meal.
